(Volume 4 part 1 lacking additional engraved title but probably as issued, one plate in vol. 4 with the margin renewed at an early date, occasional marginal dampstain, some soiling to deckle edges.) Contemporary vellum, gilt spine labels (some soiling and staining, labels worn, extremities rubbed, front hinge of vol. 1 split). THE HOLLAND HOUSE COPY OF RUGGIERI'S MAGISTERIAL 'EPITOME OF FLORENTINE ARCHITECTURE' (RIBA). A tall copy, with deckle edges. Jean Bouchard recognized that important works on Florentine architecture were not readily available for purchase by curious Grand Tourists; in 1755 he reprinted Ruggieri's three-volume Studio d'architecture civile, originally published in 1722-1728, and added a fourth volume comprising Sgrilli's description of Santa Maria del Fiore, and Rossi's description of the Mediceo-Laurenziana library.
