A copper-inlaid figure of Mahavairochana
Tibet, 14th century
Seated in dhayanasana on a double-lotus base, the hands with copper-inlaid fingernails and arranged in dharmachakramudra, dressed in a dhoti with copper-inlaid hems and adorned with copper-inlaid necklaces, the face with bow-shaped mouth and downcast eyes centered by a raised urna and surmounted by a tall foliate tiara with a copper-inlaid band and flared ties, the hair arranged in a tall flat chignon with locks escaping over the shoulders, backed by an aureole of streaming ribbons, the base sealed and incised with a double-vajra
