A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF BUDDHA
MING DYNASTY, 16TH-17TH CENTURY
The figure is shown seated in dhyanasana with hands in dhyana mudra, and wearing simple robes with incised foliate borders falling in graceful folds. The face is well cast in a meditative expression flanked by the large ears beneath the tight whorls of hair that surround the usnisa.
12 in. (30.4 cm.) high, gilt-bronze base.
