A JADE AND IVORY-INSET HARDWOOD RUYI SCEPTER
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The dark hardwood scepter is inset with three shaped jade plaques. The largest is carved with a bat in flight above two peaches borne on a branch, the second with a finger citron, and the last with a pomegranate, comprising The Three Abundances, sanduo. The handle is inset with ivory shou-character appliques, and pierced to hold the yellow silk cord. Together with a green jade ruyi scepter, 20th century. The ruyi head is carved with a bat in flight above interlocking C- scrolls. The green stone has some black and white inclusions.
