IRAN, CIRCA 1850-60
Of typical elongated form, painted with cusped medallions depicting a lady with children, the sides with landscapes and artillery battle scenes interspersed with oval portraits of young figures, the base with gilt scrollworks on red ground; together with a Qajar pencase, the top with an oval portrait of a Qajar youth on gilt foliage ground, the sides decorated with gul-o-bulbul between two registers of scrolling vine, acquired at Sotheby's, 22 October 1994, lot 282
