SIGNED HASSAN AL-HILMI, TURKEY, DATED AH 1283/1866-67 AD
Arabic manuscript on ivory paper, 390ff. plus 3 fly-leaves, each folio with 13ll. of strong black naskh within thick gold and blue outlined text panels, gold and polychrome roundel verse markers, catchwords, sura headings in white on gold panels, opening folio with gold and polychrome floral illumination surrounding 7ll. of text in clouds reserved against gold ground, colophon signed and dated and surrounded with similar illumination, overall good condition, in red morocco binding with flap decorated with gilt central lattice and borders, the doublures covered in green cloth
Text panel 11 7/8 x 6¼in. (30 x 15.8cm.); folio 16 7/8 x 10in. (42.3 x 25.4cm.)
