With typical single-edged blade with narrow fuller along the top of each side, both sides decorated with gold inlay, one with an inscription contained within a cartouche, the other with a series of small linked motifs, the forte with applied silver gilt panels in high relief extending to a parcel-gilt hilt of typical form decorated with floral engraving and set with filigree rosettes, in original wooden scabbard encased in silver finely decorated in repoussé with floral vine contained within arched niches, with makara-head finial, the locket silver-gilt and decorated with bands of filigree, scabbard with one attachment loop

On the blade, an Arabic benediction, ya khafi al-altaf najna mimma nakhaf, 'O You whose acts of beneficence remain hidden, conceal us from what we fear' and tawakkaltu 'ala allah, 'I put my trust in God' and the signature, 'amal al-hajj muhammad husayn sahibuhu hamza (?) agha sana 1237, 'Work of al-Hajj Muhammad Husayn, its owner Hamza (?) Agha'. In Persian, 'ezzat bad, 'Glory be [to the owner]'.
