Lot Essay

The drawings relate to subjects engraved in W.E. Parry's Journal of a second voyage for the discovery of a North-West Passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific; performed in the years 1821-22-23 in His Majesty's ships Fury and Hecla, London, 1824, and in Lyon's A Narrative of Travels in North Africa in the years 1818, 1819 and 1820, accompanied by Geographical Notices of Soudan and of the Course of the Niger, published in 1821, both works illustrated with plates from Lyon's drawings.
