A Sèvres-style 'jewelled' portrait jar and cover
cylindrical, twin-handled, painted with a quarter-length portrait of a lady wearing 18th century dress within gilt tied laurel branches on a blue celeste ground gilt with scrolling foliage above swags of flowers, 'jewelled' with pendants and fleur-de-lys, the flattened cover with similar ornament, the handles formed as scrolling foliage terminating in flowerheadsm the finial as a stylised anthemion enriched in matt gilt, imitation Sèvres marks -- 4¾in. (12cm.) high, late 19th century (some wear and over painting)
