A PAIR OF MASSIVE SANCAI-GLAZED POTTERY FIGURES OF CAMELS
TANG DYNASTY (618-907)
Each camel is depicted standing foursquare on a rectangular slab base, with the neck arched, the head raised, the mouth open to bare the teeth in a bray, and the humps leaning sideways. Both camels are covered overall in amber and straw glazes, with streaks of green dribbling down the back of the rear legs and one with some green at the base of the neck.
