Lot Essay

The inscriptions on each cup contain poetic lines extracted from the poem entitled Chun Ye Yan Tao Li Yuan Xu by the famous Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai (AD 701-762), which relates the story of Li Bai and his friends gathering for a feast in a garden one night during springtime, drinking wine and composing poetry. Through this, he expresses his passion for life and laments the quick passing of time.
