Françoise Athénaïs de Rochechouart de Mortemart, Marquise of Montespan (1640-1707) married the Marquis of Montespan (1640-1691) in 1663. She later became lady-in-waiting to Queen Marie-Thérèse, through whom she met King Louis XIV, becoming his official mistress between 1667 and 1689 and bearing him six children, all of whom were legitimated.
