THOMSON, John (pseudonym?). The Tricks of the Town: or, ways and means for getting money. London: J. Roberts, 1732. 8° (174 x 104mm). Etched frontispiece, head-piece and initial letter to p.1. Extra illustrated with two additional engraved plates and approximately 80 tipped-in newspaper cuttings dating from 1724 to 1768. (Title-page dust-soiled, some light soiling to other leaves, catchword occasionally shaved.) Contemporary half calf, speckled edges, spine lettered in gilt (extremities rubbed, upper and lower joints cracked at foot of spine). Provenance: James M. Osborn (bookplate).
