Uniformly bound in contemporary brown morocco, gilt armorial crest on front covers within gilt borders, gilt spines and edges. Provenance: 'from the author' (gift inscription probably in secretarial hand to:) -- Richard Heber (1773-1833) -- Augusta, Duchess of Sussex (ownership inscription to vol. III of Waverley) -- William Henry Smith, 3rd Viscount Hambleden (1903-1948; binding and book label) -- Swinton Hall (pencil inscription to The Talisman).
