This collection of over 100 'toiles' or patterns is now thought to date from around 1952 to the early 1960s and seems to relate to garments made for Schiaparelli Boutique lines.
A collection of sketches has recently been discovered, and which are sold with the lot, which appear to be the work of Serge Matta. Most of these sketches have an accompanying calico pattern.
