THE MOUNTS OF LOUIS XV STYLE, LATE 19TH CENTURY
Each domed cover with a laurel leaf finial above a pierced rocaille collar, the bulbous ovoid body finely painted with flower filled baskets and butterflies, flanked by tête de guerrier handles, on a spreading acanthus-scrolled foot.

Lot Essay

These vases of impressive scale were produced by the famed Samson factory in the ‘Chinese’ famille vert style. A vase of the same model is visible in a period photograph of the viewing rooms at Samson’s rue Béranger premises.
