Details
Taylor 1955
Charles Mackinlay, Leith. Some signs of old seepage. Three badly bin-soiled labels, eight with no labels. Levels: base of neck or better.
Tasting note: An opaque blockbuster when young, astringent and unready up until the early 1980s. In the early 1990s still fairly deep-coloured; a vast, deep, high-toned, spicy nose, fairly sweet, full-bodied, packed with fruit, extract and tannin and acidity. Then, in April 1993, served at a state banquet at Buckingham Palace in honour of the President of Portugal (impressive: occasion and wine)……Last noted at a dinner in Los Angeles, Feb 1998 **** (Possibly I am being ungenerous, for it is far from fading) M.B.
