A Red-lacquered Wood Accessory Box Inlaid with Mother-of-pearl
Joseon dynasty (late 19th century)
Of rectangular shape with deep box and shallow cover, inlaid in mother-of-pearl with panels of auspicious character medallions centered by other felicitous imagery of cranes, clouds and peach boughs, the friezes set off by mother-of-pearl lines and a band of florets on the lower perimeter of the lid, the ground red lacquer showing traces of black underlayer, the interior of the box and cover lined with green paper
