A Blue and White Porcelain Bowl Decorated with Scholar's Objects
Joseon dynasty (19th century)
The deep, circular bowl delicately painted in light washes and darker lines of underglaze cobalt blue with scholar's objects spaced at regular intervals around the perimeter just below a blue line at the rim; the objects include scrolls and flowers in urns, brushes in a brush holder, a censer with burning taper, artemesia leaf, tea kettle on stand, cup on stand, covered bowl, bottle and bowl on stand and double-gourd bottle, the interior painted with an auspicious character medallion in underglaze blue and the ring foot encircled by another blue line, the bowl also embellished with a blue-toned clear glaze
