A LARGE GILT-LACQUERED WOOD SEATED FIGURE OF A FOUR-ARMED BUDDHA
17TH/18TH CENTURY
The figure is seated in dhyanasana, with his primary hands in ànjali mudra and his secondary hands in dhyana mudra. He wears layered robes and a swirling celestial scarf that drapes around the arms. The eyes are cast downwards in a gentle expression, and the hair is dressed in a tri-lobed topknot painted black.
