A LONGQUAN CELADON PEAR-SHAPED VASE
SOUTHERN SONG DYNASTY (1125-1279)
The vase has a bulbous body that tapers to a wide neck that rises to a shallow, rounded rim, and is covered allover and inside the foot with a glaze of soft, slightly greyish sea-green color.

Two similar Longquan celadon vases, but of slightly smaller size (15 and 15.5 cm.), are illustrated by Bo Gyllensvärd in Chinese Ceramics in the Carl Kempe Collection, Stockholm, 1964, p. 50, nos. 96 and 97, respectively.
