A FAMILLE ROSE-DECORATED BLUE-GROUND YIXING TEAPOT AND COVER
LATE QING DYNASTY
Of rectangular section, the exterior is covered with unctuous blue enamel and decorated in famille rose enamels with bamboo on one side and orchid and lingzhi fungus on the other, each accompanied by a poetic inscription describing the plant. The base is stamped with the four-character mark, Danranzhai yin (Seal of the Studio of Calm and Tranquility).

Lot Essay

A slightly larger teapot of the same shape, and with similar mark, but with 'robin's egg' enamel, and dated late 18th century, is illustrated in K.S. Lo Collection in the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware (II), Hong Kong, 1984, p. 138, no. 129.
