TWO INSIDE-PAINTED SNUFF BOTTLES
BOTH SIGNED YE ZHONGSAN, ONE DATED AUTUMN OF 1922, THE OTHER 1910
The first is glass, of rounded-rectangular form, and painted on the interior with ladies at various leisurely pursuits within a terraced garden, with men overlooking. One side is inscribed 'Xihu zhu' (Master of West Lake). The reverse has a poetic inscription followed by the date and artist's signature. The second, an amber bottle of flattened, rounded rectangular form, is painted on the interior with three men, a reference to the story of the Three Kingdoms. One side has a poetic inscription followed by the date and artist's signature.
2½ and 2 3/8 in. (6.4 and 6 cm.) high, jadeite and agate stoppers (2)
