JADE PLAQUES MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The dark wood scepter is inset with three shaped jade plaques. The largest is carved with two birds perched on leafy, flowering branches set against ruyi-form clouds and above rockwork, and the second and third plaques are carved with related scenes. The wood scepter is decorated in silver wire with key-fret scroll around the edges and, lingzhi, a flowering branch, and peaches on the reverse. The base is pierced to hold the yellow cord.
