Engraved double-hemisphere world map, colored by a contemporary hand, image 507 x 581 mm (526 x 603 mm sheet). On landscape backgrounds, with smaller double-hemisphere celestial maps, 12 small circular cartouches to upper margin depicting various global views including those of the poles and an armillary sphere, 14 small circular cartouches to lower margin with astronomical views, verso blank. (Lower margin, lower portion of fold and a few short marginal tears strengthened on verso.)

RARE WORLD MAP WITH ATTRACTIVE CONTEMPORARY HAND-COLORING. Zürner's world map and regional maps of Germany appeared in atlases, such as Schenk's Atlas Contractus, and later in the atlases of Ottens. The world map is "cartographically up-to-date" (Shirley) and shows the routes of Magellan, Dampier, Tasman, Gaetani and Chaumont. Shirley 639.
