Lot Essay

The Canada Atlantic & Plant Steamship Co. Ltd. of Halifax finished constructing The Evangeline, named for Longfellow's epic poem, in October 1912. The Evangeline was the first ship to carry passengers on cruises from Florida to Jamaica and Panama.
