Probably from a dashavatara or 'ten avatars' series, opaque pigments heightened with gold on paper, one painting depicting Vishnu as Kalki leading a white horse, with a lake with lotuses in the foreground ; the other painting depicting Vishnu as Parashurama wielding an axe in combat with the thousand-armed king Kartavirya, each folio with 3ll. of devanagari text in black with the opening word in red set in a yellow rectangular cartouche, the reverse of each with 4ll. of devanagari, the second with a sketch of the scene, extended margins restored
