TIMURID IRAN AND OTTOMAN TURKEY, 15TH-18TH CENTURY
Comprising a fine cover and flap from a Timurid book binding, the decoration with a central cusped almond-shaped medallion issuing trefoil palmettes, with four spandrels, the stamped decoration with foliage and small cusped palmettes, the flap with Chinese cloud motifs on gold ground, the spine with scroll of peonies, the doublure with stamped medallions with foliage and Chinese clouds on green and blue painted ground, the borders finely tooled; and two complete Ottoman bindings with flap, each with stamped cusped almond-shaped medallions issuing trefoils, one with stamped spandrels, the borders finely tooled with interlacing motifs, one with gilt doublures, the other with silver-speckled salmon-pink paper doublures
