Lot Essay

A comparable tureen with artichoke, lemon and caterpiller molded cover is in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London. Also compare the example from the Property of Mrs. Lloyd S. Gilmore, Christie's, New York, 17 June 1989, lot 113.
