MUSAEUS. Opusculum de Herone et Leandro, in Greek and Latin. -- ORPHEUS. Argonautica. Hymni. De Lapidibus, in Greek. Venice: Aldo Manuzio and Andrea Torresano, November 1517. Aldine 8° (152 x 87mm). Italic and Greek type. Woodcut dolphin and anchor device (Fletcher 3) on title, two woodcut illustrations. 18th-century red morocco gilt, paneled sides, gilt edges (some wear at spine.) Provenance: Duke of Grafton (pencil note on flyleaf; sale, Evans, 6 June 1815) -- paper label ‘3631’ on front pastedown -- W.J. Monson (bookplate; pencil note of his purchase from Payne & Foss for £1 5s).
EDITIO PRINCEPS of De Lapidibus. Musaeus's Opusculum is reset after the first Aldine edition of c. 1495-97, and the first two works of Orpheus reproduce the text of the very rare Giunta edition of 1500.
