Oval, the hinged cover centring an en plein enamel plaque depicting a troika in the snow, the cover decorated with coils and foliate motifs, enamelled overall with floral and geometric motifs in shades of blue, green, purple and brown on green and blue ground, the cover set with silver-gilt thumb-piece, marked inside cover and under base
