Contemporary morocco, sides with gilt arms of Marius Filonardi [Olivier 1062] surrounded by a semé of fleurs-de-lys, flat spine decorated in gilt, gilt edges (foot of spine and 2 corners slightly worn). Provenance: Anthonius Mercurinus (presentation inscription dated 1627 to:) -- Marius Filonardi, Archbishop of Avignon (binding; inscription presenting the book to:) – Stephanus Gazonius -- later title signatures of ?Forchet and ?Viton.

IN CONTEMPORARY MOROCCO FOR MARIUS FILONARDI, who in 1624 was made Archbishop of Avignon by Urban VIII. In 1629 he was created vice-legate and in 1629 was made papal superintendant of Avignon and the Comtat-Venaissin. In 1634 he was sent as nuncio to the Polish Court and died at Rome in 1644.
