Contemporary German calf, covers with gilt-stamped panel enclosing spirals of flowers and leafy blooms, spine blind-stamped in compartments, ties (head and foot of spine and corners expertly restored, front joint starting at head, gilt on sides mostly rubbed off, 2 ties shortened, new endpapers). Provenance: Franciscus Anton Brand of Schwarzenberg (presentation inscription on first blank, dated 1716, giving the book to:) – Lotharius Francis, Archbishop of Bamberg – F. Alphons Brand (old inscription on first blank) – Christoph Zimmer (inscription on first blank) – 2 illegible stamps (on first blank) – S. A Thompson Yates (bookplate).
