Small 2° (304 x 209mm). With blank b6. Engraved title, 30 half-page maps by Girolamo Porro, printer's device at end. (Dampstaining througout but mainly in the text, E2-3 browned, the first few leaves with small losses at the fore corners.) Crushed morocco by J. Haines with his stamp, the sides panelled in gilt and blind, spine in compartments centred with gilt fleurons, gilt turn-ins and edges. Provenance: Vincenzo Fantini (title signature).
FIRST EDITION of 'almost the last in line of notable isolario or island atlases compiled by Bondelmonti, Sonetti, Bordone and others' (Shirley). The work was very popular and went through seven editions, the last was published in 1686. Adams P-1904; Shirley p.817; Sabin 64148.
