8° (139 x 90mm). Woodcut device on title, woodcut initials. (Marginal repair to title, some light browning.) 18th-century calf, gilt spine and turn-ins, red edges (two tiny wormholes). Provenance: S.A. Thompson Yates (booklabel).
The original Spanish edition was published in 1539 and the work was then translated into French by Antoine Alaigre and issued in Paris in 1544. The present is a second translation by Jacques de Rochemaure (1510-1571), first printed in Lyons by Guillaume Rouille in 1556 and then reprinted by Plantin the following year. Speeckaert 241.
