QIANLONG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)
The deep sides are decorated on the exterior with a wide band of sea creatures, haishou, in blue on a ground of froth-capped, iron-red waves between key fret and dentil borders, and on the interior with a medallion of another winged creature leaping against a similar wave ground.

Lot Essay

An identical bowl is in the collection of the Palace Museum, Beijing, and was included in the exhibition, Capolavori Dalla Città: Qianlong e La Sua Corte, Museo del Corso, Rome, 20 November 2007 - 20 March 2008, p. 118, no. 53.
