The censer is supported by three elegant, long-legged cranes standing on top of a circular stand, their outstretched wings enveloping the rounded sides of the censer, which are finely incised with clouds and a floral border on the shoulder, and further cast with a small turtle clambering up one side. The long necks of the cranes are gracefully arched, and the feathers and toes are finely detailed. The cover is pierced with a ruyi band below an openwork finial of stems of lotus, saggitaria, millet and flowers.
