Furniture adorned with archaistic elements, including stylized archaistic scrolls, gained popularity during the middle Qing dynasty, and the production of this type continued well into the 19th century. A similar zitan table of larger size, also dating to the 19th century, and with elaborate carving and upturned ruyi-form feet was sold at Christie's New York, 20 March 2014, lot 2306.
