A WHITE JADE CIRCULAR PLAQUE
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The plaque is carved on one side with a boy steering a log boat amidst waves, its bow filled with a lingzhi plant, and the reverse is carved with a four-character seal, zailai huajia ('another sixty years of longevity'). The semi-translucent stone is of white color.

Lot Essay

A person rowing a boat (hua) which bears him (zai) forms the rebus for huajia zailai, 'May you have another sixty years of longevity.'
