A Takatori Chaire [Tea Container]
Edo period (17th century)
Of irregularly potted but roughly cylindrical form, the greyish body decorated with a pale brown glaze overlaid by another thick brown glaze, two vertical deep lines to the body, a potter’s mark to the base, gebuta [ivory lid with gold paper on the interior] and a shifuku [carrying pouch]
