MARK OF FRANCOIS DURAND, PARIS, 1819-1838
Each repoussé and chased with flowers and foliage on a matted ground, comprising: a coffee-pot with ivory handle; a milk-jug; a sugar bowl and cover with floral finial; a pair of cups and saucers; two teaspoons and a pair of sugar-tongs, a tray, oblong with two-handles, each marked underneath, all contained in a gilt-tooled green-leather case, the cover with initials 'M.C' beneath a Royal crown
the tray 20 7/8 in. (53 cm.) wide
gross weight 115 oz. 1 dwt. (3,580 gr.)
The initials are almost certainly for Marie Clementine (1817-1907), youngest daughter of Louis Philippe I, King of the French, who married August, Prince of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1818-1881).
