JOHANN BAPTIST HOMANN (1663-1724) AND HEIRS
Atlas compendiarius quinquaginta selectarum tabularum geographicarum Homanni. Nuremberg: Heirs of J.B. Homann, 1748 [maps dated 1741-1749]. 2° (535 x 305mm). Engraved title from Homann's Atlas novus, coloured in an early, amateur hand, typographic title in German and Latin, 40pp. of double-column text in German, 50 hand-coloured double-page maps, with another 18th-century hand-coloured double-page map loosely inserted. (Typographic title, first leaf of Introduction and map 38 of Denmark with light vertical creasing, text spotted, maps with some spotting mostly confined to margins, a few with light soiling.) Contemporary limp panelled calf, upper cover with central gilt device of '50' within crowned wreath, one strap tie remaining (rubbed). Cf. Phillips 3498 and 3499.
