ALPHABET -- [SANTHO, Imre von (1900-1946), under the pseudonym of:] CHANTEAU. A series of original drawings for an erotic alphabet. Budapest, c.1920s.

24 pen-and-ink and watercolour drawings on card, without letters J and Q possibly as intended (light wear and light soiling in some margins, one with light scattered spotting).

AN ORIGINAL ALPHABET BY SANTHO, perhaps for an unpublished book to be issued by Istvan Kellner. The drawings are stylistically similar to Becker Baby, published openly using Santho’s name, and to Arlequin et Colombine, published clandestinely under the name of ‘I. de Chanteau’. Later in life Santho became better known for his fashion photography.
