A HONGMU CARVED CABINET
SIGNED RUAN YUTANG, DATED WINTER OF YISI YEAR, CORRESPONDING TO 1905
The cabinet is ornately carved, with the two front doors each pierced with a dragon chasing the flaming pearl. The surrounding panels carved with birds perched on flowering and fruiting branches, all above two drawers carved with squirrel handles amongst melons. The sides of the cabinet are similarly carved, one side is signed Ruan Yutang and dated, the other side is inscribed "Ting Tang She" and with an indistinct two-character mark reading "Ou ...". It rests on a stand on four feet carved with floral motifs.
