Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with raised gold hour markers and bracelet in 1949 and its subsequent sale on 1 October 1949. Furthermore delivered with a Patek Philippe fitted presentation box.

Fresh to the market, this watch is one of only thirteen examples of a reference 1582 in yellow gold to have appeared in public to date. It is distinguished by its attractive modernist dial and unusual lug design.

Production of reference 1582 was launched in 1944 and ceased around 1949. The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 176, pl. 277.
