Hemispherical and on spreading gadrooned foot, the body chased with panels and with two lion mask drop rim handles, the detachable rim with shaped foliage scroll and putto mask rim, engraved underneath with initials 'W*W', marked underneath, on handles and rim, further engraved underneath with a scratchweight '58=10'.
11 ½ in. (29 cm.) diam.
57 oz. 11 dwt. (1,791 gr.)
The initials are probably for William Welby (d.1704), Lincolnshire.
Provenance
William Welby (d.1704), Lincolnshire, bequeathed to his brother Richard Welby (1656-1713), Lincolnshire and then by descent.
