The case pierced and engraved overall with foliate scrolls and birds, the dial with gilt-brass border, Roman hours and Arabic minutes, with alarm ring and date aperture, the four train movement with standing barrels for count wheel strike, quarter strike (two hammers), and alarm and chain fusee for the going train, the back plate signed JACOB MAYR 1617, one large bell in back of case
4 in. (10.1 cm.) high to base of handle; 4 ¼ in. (10.8 cm.) wide; 2 ¼ in. (5.7 cm.) deep

Jacob Mayr I was born c.1648, becoming master in 1672. He died in 1714. The British Museum owns one of his astronomical movements.
