Lot Essay

The figure in this drawing is close to that of Saint Dominic in Fra Angelico's Perugia altarpiece painted by the artist and his workshop around 1437-8, and today in Perugia, Galleria Nazionale dell'Umbria (J.T. Spike, Fra Angelico, New York, 1996, no. 94, pp. 164-9, 243-4).
