A FINE & RARE .246 (PURDEY) SELF-OPENING SIDELOCK EJECTOR DOUBLE RIFLE

With 25 ½ in. (64.8 cm.) signed blacked nitro chopperlump Whitworth steel barrels, matt raised sighting rib with two-leaf rear-sight each with platinum-inlaid centre-line and respectively calibrated for 150 and 300 yards, the base of the sight with windage adjustment marked 'IN' and 'OUT', matt ramp-mounted bead fore-sight, case-hardened side-clipped treble grip action signed on the underside, blued removable striker-discs, blued toplever fitted with a folding aperture peep-sight, bolted automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'BOLTED' and 'SAFE', case-hardened signed locks each with blued cocking-indicator, blued trigger-guard, case-hardened pistolgrip-cap, best quality bouquet and scroll engraving throughout, well figured 15 ½ in. pistolgrip stock including 5/8 in. rubber recoil pad, old inventory label, gold escutcheon engraved with a crowned 'J' monogram, and retaining virtually all its original finish throughout

Provenance
The makers have kindly confirmed that this rifle was completed in July 1927 for King Alfonso XIII of Spain.
