HM Borges, Canteiro Verdelho 1860

Levels: into neck; wax capsules, painted: 'CTO' with back label ''This wine was bought by Henriques Menezes Borges in 1900, the wines were inherited by his daughter, Maria. This wine since that date was stored in demi-johns and was bottled in 1989 by Jorge Borges Goncalves manager of HM Borges. There are very few of these bottles available.'"
Tasting note: Sweet caramel nose, expressive, fudge tones, leather, waxy and very inviting. Medium-sweet rounded taste, pleasantly creamy. Natural concentration from long cask aging. Great complexity. Very fine. I was able to taste this bottle from the Borges private family stock and was opened during Christmas 2013, an example of how well an opened bottle Madeira keeps. Tasted April 2014, EV.
